Most Of The Client Will Ask

What are Greenseal products?

Greenseal products are a wide range of products used for the effective waterproofing and protection of concrete, with or without steel reinforcement. With more than two decades of experience in waterproofing for both civil and structural building industries, Greenseal products are reliable as well as economical.
The Greenseal GS Range are cement based compounds supplied in powder form which is formulated from high grade Portland cement, fine quartz sand and active chemical agents. It is ready to mix with water and applied as a slurry or mortar consistency.

How do Greenseal’s ‘cementitious’ products work exactly?

Chemical agents (organic and inorganic salts) are used in the Greenseal range of cementitious waterproofing products. These require the presence of water to react with oxides of, for instance calcium, aluminium, iron and others, to form large complex molecules. The ions all having one or more free chemical bonds interact with each other, or with other complex ions, to produce a long chained complex chemical bond which then crystallizes in the concrete’s capilliary system.
These molecular complexes are capable of bonding physically or chemically with considerable amounts of water. However, they still allow the passage of water vapour, thus allowing the concrete to breathe.

The complexes are also capable of exchanging atom groups with nearby molecules in a similar way to ion exchange used in water softeners and can in this way penetrate through the capilliaries, deep into the substrate. Here they react as just described with calcium oxides and hydroxides also popularly called ‘Free Lime’.

The Greenseal formed crystals will remain in the concrete and at any later time under attack by water, the crystallization process will continue.

Can existing leaking structures be repaired?

Yes. The Greenseal system can be used to completely stop leaks from the inside of any concrete or block structure, even against extremely high pressure water. Cold joints, honeycombing, faulty and leaking construction joints and cracks can all be sealed permanently with Greenseal products.
All concrete deficiencies must be routed out and cleaned throughly. If necessary a plaster or rubber tube is inserted to control the flow of water. The routed out area is then coated with Greenseal GS-200 slurry. Fill the remainder of the cavity with cement/sand (1:3) mortar, coating the final structure with GS-200. Small areas, if so desired, can be filled with GS-400 mortar. When the mortar has set fully, withdraw the pipe and plug the hole with a mixture of Greenseal GS-200 and GS-800 mixed to an earth moist consistency. Fill the remainder of the hole with cement/sand (1:3) mortar for strength purposes.

Greenseal applicators are experienced in the use of the Greenseal Waterproofing System no matter how severe the problem. Contact your distributor, applicator or local Greenseal office for further information and details.

Are Greenseal products safe?

Greenseal applications are non-toxic and can be used, for example, in water towers, reservoirs and clearwells with complete safety.
The products do however contain alkaline materials and prolonged contact with the skin, during the application process, is best avoided as it could give rise to irritation. To minimize such risks, we recommend the use of rubber gloves when handling our products.
